Waterproof Wire Harness Design for Outdoor Sensors and Equipment

Outdoor sensors and equipment need waterproof wire harness design that considers the complete cable path, not only the connector seal.

Sealing and Protection

Select sealed connectors, compatible cable jacket, proper strain relief and routing protection. The design should account for water exposure, vibration, bending and installation handling.

If IP67 or another sealing target is required, the test method and acceptance criteria should be stated in the RFQ.

Engineering Review

Confirm connector series, cable diameter, overmold or boot requirement, label location and continuity test needs before sample approval. A small mismatch in cable diameter or seal design can affect waterproof performance.
