Wire Harness Labeling and Packaging Requirements for OEM Production

Labeling and packaging are often treated as small details, but they can prevent installation mistakes and production delays in OEM wire harness projects.

Label Content

Define part number, revision, date code, connector identification, branch labels and any customer-specific barcode format. Labels should be placed where installers can read them after the harness is routed.

For multi-branch harnesses, labels should match the drawing and pinout table. This makes receiving inspection and assembly work easier.

Packaging Details

State whether harnesses should be individually bagged, bundled by set, protected with caps or packed with drawings. Packaging requirements should be included before final quotation.
